PLEASE NOTE AGAIN, THAT AS INDICATED ON OUR HOME PAGE, OUR 21ST ANNUAL TADEUSZ KOSCIUSZKO CONFERENCE AND RELATED ANNUAL COMMEMORATIVE ACTIVITIES ARE SCHEDULED ON A FIXED BASIS, FOR MAY 3 AND 4, 2024. OTHER RELATED FINAL DETAILS WILL BE POSTED ON THIS WEBSITE WHENEVER CIRCUMSTANCES DICTATE. Please note as well that our Conference will occur in the Eisenhower Room of the Thayer Hotel, and that the next day's Kosciuszko Luncheon will occur in the Washington Room of the Hotel..

The 21st Annual Tadeusz Conference will take place in the Eisenhower Room of the Thayer Hotel, located at 674 Thayer Road, USMA, West Point, NY, recognizing the: 

                                        21st Anniversary Year of the Founding and Incorporation of the American Association of the Friends of Kosciuszko at West Point (AAFKWP)

21st Anniversary Year of the First Annual Tadeusz Kosciuszko Conference of the AAFKWP Commemsurate with Its Founding  

111th Anniversary Year of the Kosciuszko Statue that was Added in 1913 to the Original Kosciuszko Monument of 1828

196th Anniversary Year of the Dedication of the Kosciuszko Monument by the United States Military Academy 

 196th Anniversary Year of the United States Military Academy's 1st Annual National Tadeusz Kosciuszko Observance

278th Anniversary Year of the Birth of Tadeusz Kosciuszko

207th Anniversary Year of the Death of Tadeusz Kosciuszko

 

 

The Overall Focus of the 21st Annual Kosciuszko Conference (Friday, May 3, 2024) Will Be:

 

ENDURING STRATEGIC AND TACTICAL ANNIVERSARIES AND THEIR LEGACIES:

POLAND'S CONSTITUTION OF MAY 3, 1791; AND THE 75th ANNIVERSARY OF THE CREATIOM OF NATO ON APRIL 4, 1949

 

(Some of what currently follows on this particular page will be adjusted, excluding associated itemized costs. 

 

*Conference Morning Session Begins with Poland's Constitution of May 3, 1791 at 09:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

**Conference Morning and Afternoon Sessions are combined here but will be separated as appropriate in the coming weeks. The Morning Session Title is: "Poland's Constitution of May 3, 1791: Its Troubled Times, Both Among Those for Whom It Held Promise, and for Those Who Viewed It as a Danger and Who Precipitated the Challenging Existential Times for Poland."

**As is the practice of the Association (i.e., the AAFKWP), both a continental breakfast and lunch will be served on site in the Eisenhower Room so as to maintain all participants in one location for the convenience of all conferees. The Morning  Session Featured Speakers on the Subject of the 233rd Anniversary of Poland's Comstitution of May 3, 1791 are will be as follows: 

***Anthony J. Bajdek, AAFKWP Founder and President; Retired Associate Dean and Senior Lecturer in History, Northeastern University, Boston, MA; Author; AAFKWP Welcome and Overview.

***Steven W. Gilland, Lieutenent General, U. S. Army, 61st Superintendant, United States Military Academy, West Point, NY: USMA Welcome. 

***Mieczyslaw B. Biskupski, Ph.D., Blejwas Professor of Polish and Polish American Studies, Central Connecticut State University, New Britain; Distinguished Author and Educator. 

***Patrice Dabrowski, Ph.D., Associate of the Harvard University Ukrainian Institute; Distinguished Author and Educator.  

***James S. Pula, Ph.D. Professor Emeritus, Department of History, Purdue University; Distinguished Author and Educator, Kosciuszko Biographer.

***Vincent Rospond, Independent Historian, Author, and Publisher, Point Pleasant, NJ.  

***Robert A. Vitas, Ph.D., Chair, Lithuanian Research and Studies Center, Chicago, IL; Distinguished Author and Educator. 

 

*Afternoon Session (1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.) Addresses the 75th Anniversary Year of the Founding of the North Altantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in 1949.

**Conference Afternoon Session Title: "NATO's Challenges Past Past and Present: Same European Faces, Including NATO-Aspiring Ukraine and the Same Bad Actors East of NATO's Border.

***Stephen N. Olejasz, AAFKWP Founding Executive Vice President; Lieutenant Colonel (U. S. Army, Retired); Former Assistant Professor of History, USMA; Afternoon Session Moderator, Overview and Introductions:

***Krzysztof Nolbert, Republic of Poland Major General and Defense Attache, Embassy of Poland, Washington, DC. 

***Mindaugas Mazonas, Republic of Lithuania Colonel and Defense Attache, Embassy of Lithuania, Washington, DC. 

 

Finally, at the conclusion of the Conference: 

***Cynthia J. Bajdek, AAFKWP Founding Secretary / Treasurer, will deliver a financial report to all AAFKWP members in good standing (i.e., in having paid annual dues, and 2024 Conference for May 3  well as, if applcable,  the May 4, 2024 Luncheon expenses). This business meeting is a requirement of the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the State in which the AAFKWP was founded as a 501(c)3 entity in 2006, and certified as such by both the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of the United States and the Massachusetts AOG and Secretary of State.  

 

 

Please note that what follows will be updated, particularly as it pertains to the initial starting time, during the weeks that follow:

 

All Aspects of time for the 'Kosciuszko Day' Observance scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2024, at West Point are tentative at this time and might occur as had been the case in 2023: 

  • 08:00 a.m.: Kosciuszko Memorial Mass, Cadet Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity, United States Military Academy, West Point, NY.
  • 09:30 a.m.: Cadet Review (i.e., parade) on the Plain.
  • 11:30 a.m.: Annual USMA Kosciuszko Memorial Ceremony at the site of the Kosciuszko Monument that was dedicated and paid for by the USMA Corps of Cadets on July 4, 1828
  • 01:00 p.m.: Annual Kosciuszko Day Memorial Luncheon, George Washington Room, Thayer Hotel, 674 Thayer Road, USMA, West Point, NY (By prepaid reservation only. See below).

NOTE: For children 5 and under, there is no luncheon charge. The luncheon charge for children 6 to 12 is $20.

Finally, please note that the post-Conference Friday seafood buffet night dinner of earlier years is no longer offered by the Thayer Hotel. Those wishing to dine after the Conference in the Hotel must arrange reservations to do so on their own initiative and their separate payment made directly to the Thayer Hotel dining room waitstaff. Conference panelist speakers will dine at tables reserved for them, inthe same general area of the MacArthur Riverview Dining Hall.
